Vans

The world-famous trainer brand Vans is unmissable on the fashion street scene. Not only now, but for years already, the shoe collection of Vans is known for its iconic designs. The brand is not only hugely popular with the skateboard and surf culture, but the brand has also become incredibly popular with an even wider audience.

Vans at The Little Green Bag

At The Little Green Bag you will find Vans trainers for men, women and kids. This way you can have fun matching with your little one! The trainers are available in fun colours and prints, but also in plain versions. So there is something for everyone! The combination of colours and prints makes these shoes cool and unique.

A journey through time with Vans

On 16 March 1966, brothers Paul and Jim van Doren, together with partners Gordon Lee and Serge Delia, opened the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim, California. Here, they sold the shoes directly to the public. After that, they came up with the name House of Vans. When skateboarders were seen wearing Vans, the company displayed them on the windows of their premises. The Vans became a hype among skateboarders. Skateboarders who were big fans of the rough designs and rubber soles of the trainers, were spotted all over Southern California with Vans. This already happened in the early seventies!

The Vans #95, now known as the Era, with a padded collar and different colour combinations, was designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. The shoe was a favourite among a generation of skateboarders in 1976. This was the time when the 'off the wall' logo was introduced.

In 1977, the Vans #36 made its appearance, the Old Skool. The now famous Vans Sidestripe could be seen on this shoe. The Old Skool was Vans' first skate shoe with integrated leather parts for more sturdiness. What started as just a drawing by Paule van Doren, was initially called the 'jazz stripe', and has since become an unmistakable design element of the Vans brand.

The Vans #98 was also introduced, and thanks to skateboarders and BMXers, these Vans Classic Slip-Ons became very popular in Southern California. The shoe formed the basis for the original Slip-On silhouette, which would remain popular for many generations to come.

In the years that followed, Vans went through many more developments and it brought them where the brand is today. In the meantime, the brand has grown into a global brand and Vans has acquired a much larger target group.
