The original sports sandal was created in 1984 on the banks of the Grand Canyon. To prevent its slippers from being carried by the current, an inventive river guide tied two velcro watch straps around a pair of old slippers. And voilà, the first pair of Teva was born.

To this day, Teva has retained that same pioneering spirit and the freedom to continue discovering.

With Teva's slippers, every fantastic adventure offers an enormous sense of freedom. Teva wants consumers to experience this as well and explore with shoes that follow you in them, today and always. That's why all of the sandals' iconic straps are made from recycled plastic. That's more than 9 million less plastic bottles on the waste heap, which are better used to tie sandals to your feet. Teva is working hard to reduce their footprint so that future generations will also have the opportunity to explore the world in complete freedom.

Sustainable

Since 2020, all the iconic straps of the Teva sandals are made from 100% recycled plastic: the REPREVE® yarn. In addition to the recycled straps, they are also working on sustainable alternatives for key materials and trying to reduce water consumption and waste in the production of their packaging - and that's just the beginning.

Teva wants those who come after us to have the freedom to discover the outdoors tomorrow, and that's why we're reducing our footprint today.
