Organic Basics

Born sustainable in 2015 via crowdfunding - Organic Basics was financed in less than 24 hours. The brand is designed in Denmark and produced locally in Europe. They are a carbon neutral sustainable clothing brand and are famous for the underwear, essentials and activewear in organic and recycled materials.

LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) consumers is the main customer group of Organic Basics. This movement is growing exponentially in the world. Started with food and is slowly transiting to other industries: skincare, beauty and healthcare products. No one knew sustainability was going to be at the center of the fashion conversation - but they were set at creating a brand with purpose amd meaning.

The brand Organic Basics only work with renewable, recycled, low-impact or organic materials. They also only work with highly certified manufacturing and sourcing partners. They work straight with every partner in the supply chain. Transparency is key at Organic Basics. They communicate about their strenghts and challenges. They keep have a 'we can always do better' attitude and strive for perfection.

How they started

Three Danish school friends didn'y like any of the underwear they wore. So they decided it could be made better. They have no history at a fashion school. No experience - but Organic Basics was born anyway. They started out in 2015 by crowdfunding. No one knew sustainability was going to be at the center of the fashion conversation - but they were set at creating a brand with purpose and meaning.

Sustainability at the core

Organic Basics is a sustainable native - a group of innovators, fabric geeks, activists,minimalists and more who put sustainability at the center of everything they do. They only work with renewable, recycled, low-impact or organic materials. They design everything to last and they invest in quality fabrics and workmanship. The brand carry non-seasonal collections and limit over-productions. When they say that sustainability is the core of everything they do, they don't mean that sustainability is nice to have - they mean that it's the only we they act.

Eco-friendly underwear, activewear and essentials

Organic Cotton
Made in GOTS certified organic cotton - a soft, natural fiber grown and manufactured in ethical working conditions. They source the most local organic cotton possible in Turkey Izmir. The raw material extraction to the garment production is run within an area of 50km. The triangle bra and briefs are their bestsellers (online). But socks are selling really well too.

Tencel Lyocell
Tencel is a brand-name of Lyocell and is sources from Lenzing, an Austrian Supplier. Lyocell is made from wood pulp. Tencel used FSC® certified forestries in Europe. Softer than silk, sweat absorbing and breathable. This is the most eco-friendly line at Organic Basics.

Invisible (recycled nylon)
Goodbye panty lines! Created in clean cut, recycled materials for a seamless look. Their invisible styles are made with GRS certified recycled nylon made from pre-consumer nylon waste. By doing that, they use 80% less water and create 90% fewer CO2 emissions in comparison to virgin nylon production.

Activewear
Their activewear line is made with recycled nylon. Treated with a safe, permanent, bluesign® approved reecycled silver salt called Polygiene® for odor control. Properties: stretchy, seamless design and breathlable.

Recycled Cashmere
Their winter accessories are made from well-worn cashmere garments that would otherwise go to landfill or be burned. This emits 95% fewer emissions, uses 60% less energy and creates 15% less waste.
