New Era

German immigrant and craftsman Ehrhardt Koch founded New Era Cap Co in 1920, with the help of his sister Rose. His goal was to redesign the existing process and quality of today's fashion headwear. Thanks in part to Ehrhardt's expertise and openness, New Era Cap Co managed to produce as many as 60,000 Gatsby-style caps in the first year. From 1932, Ehrhardt's son Harold Koch joined the company and in 1934, New Era's first professional baseball cap was produced for the uniforms of the Cleveland Indians.

59FIFTY

By 1950, New Era was the only independent cap manufacturer supplying caps to major league baseball teams. Its impressive customer base included many of the major teams of the time. Think of teams like the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers. In 1954, Harold designed the fitting 59FIFTY cap. A cap with a more contemporary look and a model that is still worn today.

Spike Lee

New Era was named the exclusive supplier of field caps for Major League Baseball in 1993. In 1996, the brand first introduced custom-made, fashionable headgear with Spike Lee, which ensured a future of creativity and collaboration. After decades of being the official on-field cap of Major League Baseball, being an exclusive player within the country's biggest sports leagues is the next step for New Era.

Sports caps

In 2012, New Era became the official supplier of activity caps to the NFL, and in 2016 to the NBA. This made New Era the only brand in sports history to have exclusive rights to headwear on both the field and sidelines for the three biggest US leagues. New Era also expanded into European football with official headwear partnerships with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Demand for New Era caps continued with further deals in motorsport, golf, rugby and cricket.
