Monk & Anna

Monk and Anna was founded in 2016 by Simone, Dorien and Lotte. Simone is Head of Production and Product Development and Dorien and Lotte are responsible for product development and product design. By joining forces they managed to establish a brand with minimalistic and aesthetic bags, made of different textures in soft earth tones. The small collections of Monk and Anna consist of beautiful bags, such as cross-body bags, backpacks, shoulder bags and shoppers, which are designed with great care and attention to the smallest details. At Monk and Anna, they make sure that every product comes in an authentic package, with their own story and own name attached to it.

King Kong

The name Monk and Anna is based on the old film King Kong. Monk stands for King Kong himself and Anna stands for a female character in the film, named Ann. Monk and Anna therefore started with a Monk bag and an Anna shopper. Nowadays, the brand not only has the Monk bag and the Anna shopper in its range, but it has expanded to other bags, lifestyle products and clothing. Even after this expansion, all product names are still based on the film King Kong.

When they launch a new collection of Monk and Anna bags, they first start by thoroughly researching new colour palettes and looking for innovative textures to create the new bags. When the colours and textures are known, they are used as inspiration for the designs of the bags. Monk and Anna also let daily life and their own creative thoughts play a big role. In this way, they want to keep the collections and the brand as a whole adventurous and lively. Furthermore, Japan, nature, fashion and craftsmanship in the general sense of the word serve as great sources of inspiration for the Monk and Anna production team.
