Kurt Geiger

Kurt Geiger is a unique and large-scale brand with a global playing field within the market of shoes and accessories. Kurt Geiger plays on both accessibility and aspiration. Neil Clifford, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Kurt Geiger said: "We are a house of brands that embraces the style and freedom of expression of the individual whoever and wherever they are. Our passion, creativity, focus and genuine love of fashion enables us to constantly innovate, develop and grow our brands. "The Kurt Geiger brand thus stands for the combination of style and freedom of expression on an individual level, wherever or whoever you are. The passion, creativity, focus and genuine love for fashion allow the brand to constantly innovate, develop and grow.

Kurt Geiger timeline and growth

Kurt Geiger was founded in 1963 when the first shops opened on Sloane Street and Bond Street in London, with this vision from Mr Geiger: "The idea that high elegance is created by high heels alone is as dead as last year's boots. We designed the new season boots to look like they belong to a rock star, but feel so easy you can live in them day to day."

In 1977 Kurt Geiger was first sold in the department store Harrods, Knightsbridge and in 1978 Kurt Geiger merged with Carvela. In the year 1991 Kurt Geiger was also sold for the first time in the department store Selfridges on Oxford Street and in 1995 the brand launched its first collection aimed at men. For the more fashion conscious consumer, the brand launched the KG Kurt Geiger line in 1997. In 2001, Kurt Geiger launched a shop concept designed by architect John Field and described as 'a jewellery shop for shoes'.

The further growth of Kurt Geiger was defined in 2006 and 2007 by the launch of KURTGEIGER.COM and its expansion into the Middle East and Europe. The brand itself was further expanded in 2009 with the introduction of the Stiletto as the brand's signature style, launching in over 100 different colours. In 2011, the accessories concept called "Everything But The Dress" was added.

The brand's growth does not stop there, as it expanded into North America in 2012. On the 50th Kurt Geiger anniversary in 2013, the brand not only launched 200 gold 'Belgravia' stiletto sandals, but also Miss KG, a line that targets the younger, high-fashion-conscious consumer. In 2014, Kurt Geiger also managed to reach the market in China and Australia and in 2016, the brand launched a brand new playful line for children aged 4 to 12 years old.

In 2017 Kurt Geiger introduces the now still popular, inconicuous and distinctive Kensington handbag and in 2018 the brand opens the first Kurt Geiger London boutique in the Selfridges department store, designed by the architect Jamie Forbert. Since then, Kurt Geiger continues to grow and expand in North America and Europe and now the brand's finest bags and shoes are also available at The Little Green Bag!
