Coco Bonito

Coco Bonito is an Amsterdam-based brand founded by sisters Eva and Sophie Weijenberg. The two sisters are also the founders and designers of the original Sunnycords. In 2013, Coco Bonito was the first brand to launch these exclusive eyewear cords. This made the iconic Sunnycords line a reality. Sunnycords are fashionable eyewear cords suitable for both reading glasses and sunglasses, and they can be attached to any pair of glasses so you can hang them around your neck with ease. Colourful sunnycords

Coco Bonito was founded in 2013, following Sophie's search for a fun and colourful eyewear cord for her sunglasses. Her search was arduous and she just couldn't come across her ideal eyewear cord. So she decided to make her own eyewear cord and this became the first Sunnycord. When many requests came in from family members for a similar Sunnycord, Sophie decided to found Coco Bonito while studying Psychology. After her studies, she involved her sister Eva in the company. This allowed Sophie to deal with the creative side of Coco Bonito, while Eva took care of the operational and commercial side.

Special collaborations

As travelling the world is Sophie's greatest passion, she always knows how to broaden her horizons. This has allowed her to be inspired by local handicrafts and remote tribes. She has discovered many different crafts around the world, which has resulted in many co-creations for Coco Bonito. In fact, Coco Bonito collaborates with several local, female artisans in countries such as India, Kenya, Peru and Thailand. This has created the most beautiful Sunnycord creations that are handmade.

Socially responsible

At Coco Bonito, they feel responsible for the impact they have on the planet. This is why they are increasingly trying to focus on socially responsible production of the Sunnycords, leaving a low carbon footprint. Collaborations with local artisans help with this. Coco Bonito also ensures a fair income so the artisans can fulfil their basic needs. Old and vintage materials are also used so that unnecessary pollution and waste can be avoided.
