In 2005 there was heavy weather in the Netherlands. Even so bad that Gerwin Hoogendoorn lost three umbrellas in one week in his battle with the Dutch storms. There had to be another way. That is why he decided to develop an umbrella that can withstand a hefty (wind) blast and that is able to cope with all those forces of nature. Especially the wind. He did all this together with his friends Gerard and Philip, who saw the potential in this. They made the first prototype of the storm umbrella with Gerwin's grandmother's sewing machine. They rented premises and came up with a catchy name: Senz°. A sensible umbrella for good reason!

From that moment, things went fast: the first Senz° umbrellas were launched in 2006 and presented as a revolutionary product. Having no idea of the success that awaited them, they started with a quantity of 10,000 umbrellas. The formula caused overwhelming media attention, both at home and abroad! Everyone wanted to know all about it and be able to brave the storm themselves, armed with nothing but a genuine Senz° storm umbrella. Within just nine days, they had already run out of stock. This was the best launch for the brand you could wish for. It subsequently led to winning major national and international design awards.

How to use the Senz° Umbrellas

Using the storm umbrella for the first time? Then it will take some time to get used to the umbrella. You're probably used to holding your umbrella tightly so it doesn't get the chance to take off! But with Senz°, you don't have to fear a gone-with-the-wind moment. Because of the aerodynamic system, you can hold the umbrella loosely in your hand. The umbrella will then find the best position in the wind. This provides even more convenience. Below, we will explain how to open each type of umbrella.

Senz° Original

The Senz° Original umbrella is the first and best storm umbrella. This model can withstand up to wind force 10! This is due to the unique and patented boning system that has been incorporated into the umbrella. This prevents the umbrella from collapsing. The Senz° Original has an aerodynamic shape, which means that the cloth automatically finds the right position in the wind. This is not only very handy, but also comfortable! You don't have to keep changing the direction of the umbrella. Make sure that you hold the umbrella loosely so that the umbrella can do its work.

To open your Senz° Original umbrella, simply push the two handle parts together by pulling the upper part downwards. There is no need to press a button for this. The button on the handle is only meant to close the umbrella. If you want to close the umbrella in stormy weather, stand with your back to the wind.

When you fold this umbrella, it easily fits in your bag. Just like the Automatic and Original, this model has handy eyesavers and an intuitive use. This model is windproof up to 80 km per hour.

You open your Senz° Manual by pushing the black plastic runner upwards. To close, just push the runner down again.

Senz° Automatic

Are you going for total convenience? Then the Senz° Automatic is just the thing for you. This foldable model can be opened and closed with the push of a button! That saves a lot of hassle! Handy advantage: the Senz° Automatic does not fold up, is equipped with eyesavers and offers extra UV protection thanks to the UPF50+ fabric that is used.

The Senz° Automatic has an automatic opening and closing function. To open your umbrella, just unfold the strap and press the button. Do you want to fold it again? Then you push the button again.
