Champion

Champion is the iconic sports brand that has been around for over 100 years. Founded in 1919 in Rochester New York, Champion is a major player in the global sportswear/fashion market. Champion stands for comfort, technology, heritage and fashion. Champion is easily recognizable by the C logo on the chest and sleeve.

Champion has built up a huge success with a fan base from all over the world. The American fashion brand is completely back on track among many millenials. 

History Champion

In 1926, Champion supported their first team. After developing a line of jerseys and sportswear, Champion partnered with Wentworth Military Academy to provide their school uniform. This would be the first of many teams Champion supported.

In 1934, the anniversary of college clothing was celebrated. Champion partnered with Moe's Sport Shop to introduce collegiate sweatshirts with University of Micigan Insignia. This led to collegiate apparel as we know it, including the very first hooded sweatshirt. The hoodie was designed and developed for practical reasons as a warm-up or "sideline" garment for athletes to wear between game time or practice sessions. Champion patented the reverse-weave sweatshirt in 1938. To overcome the shrinkage associated with frequent washing of sportswear, Champion invented the world's first engineered sweatshirt. The Reverse Weave sweatshirt, cut on the coarse grain, prevented shrinkage and was quickly picked up by US sports teams. Invented in 1934, Champion filed for a patent in 1938, which was eventually granted in 1952.

In 1956, Champion introduced the signature 'C'. Champion's now famous 'C' appeared for the first time and from then on was attached to the left sleeve of each sweatshirt. This logo and this positioning would become synonymous with Champion.
